Google Updates Chrome Web Browser with New Features

Internet search giant Google has updated its popular slim-line Google Chrome website browser with the first major new release since its initial launch 8 months ago. Mozilla updates Firefox to 3.0.9

Mozilla has released an updated version of Firefox that addresses nine security flaws, one of which earns the dreaded ‘critical’ rating. The critical flaw addressed by Firefox 3.09 involves a memory corruption problem.

Microsoft to release Internet Explorer 8 today

Microsoft is to release its Internet Explorer 8 browser available today, along with a company-commissioned report claiming IE8 is more secure against malware than rival browsers from Mozilla and Google.

The latest web browser market share report from Net Applications:

65.55% – Internet Explorer
21.53% – Firefox
8.29% – Safari
1.12% – Chrome
0.70% – Opera
0.57% – Netscape
0.22% – Other

The report highlights further gains in Firefox (+0.19%) and Safari (+0.36%) users along with the continued drop in Internet Explorer users (-0.6%) since December 2008.
